Jets Acquire Morgan Barron From Rangers

The Winnipeg Jets announced today they have acquired forward Morgan Barron, two conditional second-round picks, and a fifth-round pick in the 2023 NHL Draft from the New York Rangers in exchange for forward Andrew Copp and a sixth-round pick in the 2023 NHL Draft. The Jets also announced they have assigned Barron to the AHL’s Manitoba Moose.
Barron, 23, has split the 2021-22 season between the Rangers and their AHL affiliate, the Hartford Wolf Pack, and he has one assist and four penalty minutes in 13 NHL games. He was drafted by the Rangers in the sixth round (174th overall) in the 2017 NHL Draft and turned professional last year after three seasons with Cornell University. Barron has two points (1G, 1A) and six PIMs in 18 NHL games and has totalled 36 points (19G, 17A) and 30 PIMs in 46 games for the Wolf Pack.
Copp, 27, was Winnipeg’s fourth-round pick (104th overall) in the 2013 NHL Draft and has played 467 regular season games over eight seasons with the Jets recording 184 points (74G, 110A) and 82 PIMs. The Ann Arbor, Mich. native has also played in 34 playoff games for Winnipeg and tallied 12 points (3G, 9A) and 14 PIMs.
