Moose forward Chaz Lucius was named to Team USA's preliminary roster for the 2023 IIHF World Junior Championship in Halifax today.
Lucius, 19, joins 31 other skaters, including fellow Winnipeg Jets first round pick Rutger McGroarty on the preliminary roster. Players will compete for spots on the final 23-player roster at Team USA's training camp in Plymouth, Mich. from Dec. 12-17. Lucius is the only player on the preliminary roster currently playing professionally.
The first round pick, 18th overall, of the Winnipeg Jets in 2021 has five points (2G, 3A) in 12 AHL contests this season. Lucius scored his first professional goal in his debut with the Moose on Oct. 15 against the Rockford IceHogs.
