Fast Facts: Moose at Milwaukee – April 24

By: Manitoba Moose Staff | Published: April 24th 2022

The Moose put the wraps on their 2021-22 regular season road schedule today in Milwaukee. Following a 5-3 loss in Rockford last night, the Moose can't clinch second in the Central Division on their own, but can lock it up with some help on the out of town scoreboard. Today's tilt is the 12th meeting of the season between the Moose and Admirals. Coverage of today's 3 p.m. CT contest gets going at 2:45 p.m. CT on CJOB.com/sports, AHLTV and the Manitoba Moose App.

Staying Hot

C.J. Suess recorded a goal in Manitoba’s loss yesterday evening against Rockford. The forward netted his 10th of the season, which makes it the second time in his AHL career that Suess has hit double-digit goal totals. Suess has 23 points (10G, 13A) in 44 games this season and is the ninth Moose skater to hit the 10 goal plateau in 2021-22. The Forest Lake, Minn. product registered four points (2G, 2A) over his past five games and is now three points shy of his previous career best of 27 points (14G, 13A) he set in 2019-20 with the Moose.

One More for the Road

Today’s contest is the final road game of the Moose 2021-22 campaign. Manitoba clashes with the Admirals in Milwaukee where the Moose have a record of 3-1-1-0 when facing the club at UW-Milwaukee Panther Arena. Manitoba looks to bounce back from yesterday’s loss against Rockford and currently has a 7-4-2-0 mark in the second game of a back-to-back on the road this season. The Moose hold 3-2-0-0 record in the final road game of the campaign the past five seasons. Manitoba comes into the contest with a 15-15-5-0 mark on the road.

Today’s Scenario

With last night’s 5-3 loss in Rockford, the Moose were unable to clinch second place in the Central Division. While Manitoba can’t lock the spot down on its own today, there is still a path to clinching. If the Moose win today against the Admirals, they move within one point of booking the spot. Then it’s up to the out-of-town scoreboard. Should the Iowa Wild win in Rockford, the IceHogs loss coupled with the Manitoba win sends the Moose to the Central Division Semi-Finals with home ice advantage. That would mark Manitoba’s highest finish in the Central Division since returning to Winnipeg in 2015-16. The Moose finished third in the Central in 2017-18 ahead of their previous trip to the post-season.

Number Crunching

Defenceman Jimmy Oligny racked his 11th assist of the season last night on Simon Lundmark’s second period goal. The helper brought Oligny to 15 points on the campaign, marking the second time the St. Michel, Que. product reached the plateau. It also puts Oligny one assist and point away from matching his career high of 16 points (4G, 12A) recorded during the 2019-20 campaign. The former Milwaukee Admiral has 88 points (17G, 71A) in 445 career AHL games.

Who's Trending?

Simon Lundmark recorded a goal in Saturday night’s loss against Rockford. The defenceman, who is in his rookie season in the AHL, is up to  14 points (4G, 10A) in 55 games and sits sixth in scoring by Moose defencemen on the campaign. Lundmark also ranks second in rookie scoring on the Moose and  28th overall in the AHL in rookie point totals from the blueline.
