Roster Moves
Dominic Toninato was loaned to the Manitoba Moose by the Winnipeg Jets. The forward has posted four points (1G, 3A) through five games with Manitoba this season. Toninato has accumulated 92 points (49G, 43A) in 163 AHL contests. Toninato has also played 169 NHL games, including 84 for Winnipeg, and he has posted 30 points (12G, 18A). The Winnipeg Jets also reassigned defenceman Dmitry Kuzmin from the ECHL’s Norfolk Admirals to the Manitoba Moose. Kuzmin has recorded two points (1G, 1A) in 10 games with the Admirals this season. The defender notched his first North American professional goal Nov. 5/23 against the Maine Mariners. Kuzmin was a third-round pick (82nd overall) of the Winnipeg Jets in the 2021 NHL Draft.
Assist Machine
Kyle Capobianco notched a first period assist in Manitoba’s win on Sunday. The assist, his ninth of the campaign, marked the 100th career helper of his AHL career. The defenceman went on to add another pair of assists in the contest. That brings Capobianco up to 15 points (4G, 11A) through 16 contests, which is good for second in Moose scoring and first among antlered defenders. The blue liner has recorded two three-point games, which leads the Moose, and is the only member of the squad to record a four-point game this season.
Hitting his Stride
Chaz Lucius posted a pair of points (1G, 1A) in the win over Grand Rapids this past weekend. Lucius, a 2021 Winnipeg Jets first round selection, is now up to eight points (2G, 6A) through 10 contests. Lucius has now notched two multi-point outings through the campaign and when the forward achieves this feat, the Moose have won both games in regulation. The second goal also matches the forward’s previous career-high and Lucius hit the mark in two fewer games. Lucius ranks sixth in Moose scoring and third among the squads rookie class.
Second Year Leap
Wyatt Bongiovanni posted two points (1G, 1A) for his second multi-point outing of the season on Sunday. The forward is now up to 10 points (4G, 6A) on the season in 14 games. Bongiovanni’s sixth assist pushed the forward to a new-career high. The forward, who signed a two-year entry-level deal with Winnipeg on 2022, also notched the game-winning goal in the most recent contest, which ties his career-high from 2022-23. The forward is tied for the Moose lead with three power play goals and is the fifth member of the squad to reach the double-digit point plateau in the 2023-24 campaign.
