The Manitoba Moose continue their four-game Pacific Division road swing tonight in Calgary. Tonight's contest marks Manitoba's first-ever game in Calgary. Coverage of this evening's tilt beings at 7:45 p.m. CT on CJOB.com/sports, the Winnipeg Jets App and AHLTV.
First of the Season
Simon Lundmark opened the scoring in Manitoba’s 2-1 win over the Abbotsford Canucks on Saturday. Lundmark, a 2019 second round pick of the Winnipeg Jets, is now up to six points (1G, 5A) in 20 games on the campaign and has registered a point in two of his last three contests. Lundmark, who signed his three-year entry-level contract with Winnipeg in 2021, has five career AHL goals under his belt, with two of those coming against the Canucks. The Stockholm, Sweden product is currently shooting at a career best 5.9 percent clip and the Moose are 3-2-0-0 when the defenceman scores in his Manitoba career.
Roster Moves
The Moose recalled defenceman Simon Kubiucek from the ECHL’s Newfoundland Growlers. Kubicek has appeared in three games with the Moose this season and made his AHL debut on November 18 at Texas. The defenceman has tallied five points (2G, 3A) in 17 games with the Growlers this season to go along with a plus-three rating. Manitoba also recalled forward Colin Bilek from the Trois-Rivières Lions of the ECHL. Bilek has put together 16 points (8G, 8A) through 21 games with the Lions in his first professional season. Prior to turning pro, the Army alumni recorded 93 points (43G, 50A) in 127 career NCAA games. Bilek was the first player in AHA conference history to be named to an NCAA All-American team twice.
Pacing the Club
Alex Limoges recorded the game-winning tally in the third period as the Moose split their weekend series with Abbotsford. The forward, who potted his seventh of the season in the win, now leads the Moose with three game-winners this season. Limoges recorded four game-winning tallies this past season in San Diego, with his first not coming until
Jan. 18/22. Limoges, who signed a one-year, entry-level contract with Winnipeg this summer, sits with eight career AHL game-winners. That mark is good for second on the current iteration of the Moose behind only linemate Jeff Malott’s 10 winners.
Leading the Rookies
Henri Nikkanen tallied the primary assist on Simon Lundmark’s second period goal in Manitoba’s win on Saturday night. The forward, who is skating in his first full season with the Moose, has now registered six points (3G, 3A) in 19 games this season to go along with a plus-two rating. Nikkanen, a fourth round Winnipeg Jets draft pick from 2019, leads Moose rookies in points and ranks second among first-year antlered ones in goals.
Who's Trending?
Arvid Holm recorded 17 saves in Saturday’s win over Abbotsford. The goaltender has won his past two starts and currently sits with a record of 5-2-2 to go along with a 2.74 goals-against average and a .915 save percentage. The netminder, who was drafted by Winnipeg in the sixth round in 2017, has accumulated 1928 total minutes played in his AHL career.
