The Manitoba Moose welcome the Milwaukee Admirals to Canada Life Centre tonight (7 p.m. CT). It's the first meeting between the teams since the 2023 Central Division Semi-Finals. Milwaukee claimed the best-of-five series, scoring the clinching goal with less than 30 seconds remaining in Game 5. On the Scoresheet

Jeffrey Viel registered two points (1G, 1A) in the Moose road win in Calgary. The pair of points represents the forward’s first multi-point effort of the season and the 20th in his AHL career. Viel, who inked a one-year contract with Winnipeg in 2023, has tallied five points (2G, 3A) in 19 games and has recorded three points over his past five contests. When the Rimouski, Que. product has tallied at least a point this season, the Moose record stands at a perfect 4-0-0-0. Viel is closing in on career milestone with 98 points (47G, 51A) in 231 games split between San Jose and Manitoba.

Two’s Company

Nicholas Jones (2A) and Kristian Reichel (2G) both notched their first multi-point games of the season in Sunday’s victory. Jones has tallied three assists over his past three games and has five points (2G, 3A) in 12 contests this season. He is also second on the club with a plus-five rating this month. Jones is 11 points away from reaching the century mark in his AHL career. Reichel was the fifth Moose skater this season to score twice in a single game. The winger has three points (2G, 1A) in 19 games this season and is in a tie among Moose skaters for the most goals through the month of December.

Make the Most of Your Chances

The Moose power play ranks fourth in the AHL this season and has a conversion percentage of 21.5% over 65 opportunities. That means Manitoba has scored 14 total goals on the man-advantage, with forward Wyatt Bongiovanni leading the squad with four. On the assist side, Brad Lambert is first on the club with six of his nine helpers coming by way of the power play. The only team that has been granted fewer opportunities on power play this season is the Milwaukee Admirals, who are ranked 11th in the league with a 20.3 percent conversion rate and 13 goals scored. The next closest Central Division opponent is Grand Rapids with 80 opportunities this season.

Lambo Leap

Brad Lambert posted two points (1G, 1A) and notched the overtime-winning tally on Sunday afternoon. The extra-time goal represents the Lambert’s first career AHL game-winner. The forward, a 2022 first round pick of the Winnipeg Jets, has recorded three points (2G, 1A) over his past two games played. Lambert’s multi-point outing was the forward’s fourth of the campaign, which puts him one off Jeff Malott’s five for the team lead. The Lahti, Finland product has registered 17 points (8G, 9A) through 20 contests and is one point shy of the team lead. The pivot also ranks 10th among AHL rookies in scoring and hasn’t been held pointless longer than three games this season.

Ashton Sautner notched a pair of assists in Sunday’s win. The defenceman has posted three assists over his past three games and is up to seven points (3G, 4A) in 20 contests. Sautner’s three assists in the month of December ties him for the team lead. The defender has 81 career points (19G, 62A) over the course of 371 AHL contests.
