FAST FACTS: Moose at Belleville – Dec. 4

The Moose hit the road for a three-game Canadian road swing after picking up four wins during a five-game home stand. The trip starts out in Belleville tonight where the Moose take on the Senators for the first time this season. Quarter Season Recap

The Moose have officially reached the quarter mark of the 2021-22 regular season. Manitoba racked up a record of 11-6-1-0, which is good for second overall in the ultra-competitive Central Division. The Moose have scored 60 total goals and some impressive records along the way. The squad is 10-0-0-0 when scoring first and 7-1-0-0 when leading after 20. The Moose are also 10-0-0-0 when leading after the second and a perfect 4-0-0-0 when tied after the first. Manitoba also has a power play ranked in the top-10 in the league and a boast a penalty kill ranked in the top-five.

Oh Captain, My Captain

The Moose announced on Thursday Jimmy Oligny will serve as the 11th captain in franchise history. Oligny, 28, has five points (2G, 3A) in 18 games this season. The St. Michel, Que. native has appeared in 399 career AHL games while recording 78 points (15G, 63A) and 613 penalty minutes. Oligny joined the Moose during the 2018-19 season and has suited up for 124 games with the club while totalling 34 points (8G, 26A). Oligny was named the Manitoba Moose Julian Klymkiw Community Service award winner for the 2019-20 season. Alongside Oligny, forwards David Gustafsson and Cole Maier have been named alternate captains.

Proud to Wear the Maple Leaf

Moose forward Cole Perfetti was recently named to Hockey Canada’s National Junior Team selection camp. Perfetti suited up for Canada in last years tournament and finished with six points (2G, 4A) in seven games played. The Whitby, Ont. product won a silver medal with Canada at the tournament this past year. Perfetti is the only returning forward from the Canadian squad last year. This season with the Moose, Perfetti has 14 points (6G, 8A) in 15 games. That mark ties him for first in overall team scoring.

Points From the Point

The Manitoba Moose are fortunate enough to have a group of defenceman who make an offensive impact each game. Ville Heinola is tied for fifth among AHL defencemen with 14 points (2G, 12A) in 16 games. Leon Gawanke is currently tied for ninth among the league’s defenders with 12 points (3G, 9A) in 18 games. Declan Chisholm rounds out Moose blueliners in double-digits with 11 points (4G, 7A) in 18 games played. All three are draft picks of the Winnipeg Jets, with Heinola being selected in the first round in 2019, Gawanke in the fifth round in 2017 and Chisholm in the fifth round in 2018.

Forward Nicholas Jones checked in with a pair of assists in Manitoba’s 5-3 win against Texas on Sunday. The Edmonton, Alta. native is up to five points (2G, 3A) in 13 games. Jones is heating up offensively with three assists in his last two contests and four points (1G, 3A) in his last five. Jones was re-signed by the Manitoba Moose to a one-year contract on July 27/21.
