Catch today's tilt on CJOB.com/sports, MooseHockey.com/LISTENLIVE and AHLTV.com with coverage starting at 1:45 p.m. CT.

A Trio of Trios

The Manitoba Moose know all the best things in life come in threes.  With the win against the Belleville Senators Saturday evening, the team is currently on their third three-game winning streak of the season. The first went from Oct. 22 to Oct. 30 and saw the Moose outscore their opponents 9-5. The second ran from Nov. 13 to Nov. 19 and blast their opponents 16-7 in goals scored. The final streak is ongoing and started Nov. 27. In that three game span Manitoba has lit the lamp 12 times and only given up five total goals.

Bunches of Points

The Moose know how to produce bunches of points. Through the first 19 games of the season, Manitoba has a league-leading nine players who have recorded 10 or more points so far this season. That list includes forwards Cole Perfetti (6G, 9A), David Gustafsson (5G, 9A), Austin Poganski (4G, 10A), Cole Maier (6G, 4A), Jeff Malott (5G, 5A) and Kristian Reichel (3G, 7A). On the blueline, the list is comprised of Declan Chisholm (4G, 7A), Leon Gawanke (3G, 9A) and Ville Heinola (2G, 12A). Both Springfield and Rochester are right on Manitoba’s heels with eight skaters with double digits. Last season the Moose had a total of 11 players with 10 or more points in 36 games.

On a Roll

After scoring his first goal of the season in his 10th game of the campaign, Jeff Malott has five goals in his last 10 games. The Burlington, Ont. product is tied with David Gustafsson and Mikey Eyssimont for third on the Moose in goals. Malott led the team with 14 tallies in 35 games during the 2020-21 season. The Cornell alum has eight points (5G, 3A) in his past 11 games. Overall, Malott has 10 points (5G, 5A) in 19 games this season. His five assists are just one away from matching his 34-game rookie total from the 2020-21 campaign.

Top of the List

Forward Cole Perfetti tallied an assist in last night’s win to take sole possession of the Moose points lead. Perfetti’s ninth helper of the season gives him 15 points (6G, 9A) in 16 games on the campaign. The second-year pro also sits tied with Cole Maier for the team’s goal-scoring lead. Perfetti has points in three consecutive games with five points (2G, 3A) during that run. The Winnipeg Jets 10th overall pick in 2020 has nine points (3G, 6A) in his past six games, tallying two three-point outings during that span. Perfetti was recently named to Team Canada’s selection camp for the 2022 World Junior Championship.

Who’s Trending
