Super Swede
Moose netminder Arvid Holm recorded his first career AHL shutout in Sunday’s 2-0 win over the Belleville Senators. The Ljungby, Swe. native finished the contest with 22 saves for the clean sheet. Holm’s previous shutout came in the 2020-21 season with Farjestad BK of the SHL. The goaltender currently owns a record of 4-1-1 this season with the Moose and has a 2.14 goals-against average to go along with a .905 save percentage. Holm was a sixth round pick, 167th overall, of the Winnipeg Jets in 2017. Moose goaltenders have combined for three shutouts so far this season.
Grab That Puck!
Forward Todd Burgess celebrated a milestone in Manitoba’s win in Belleville by scoring his first AHL goal. It was Burgess’ sixth game in the league after scoring three goals in three games in the ECHL with the Newfoundland Growlers. The Phoenix, Ariz. product’s first professional goal came in his professional debut with the Growlers on Oct. 22. He scored the goal shorthanded, the first of two shorthanded tallies he scored with Newfoundland. Prior to turning pro, Burgess recorded 62 points (27G, 35A) in 127 NCAA games split between R.P.I and Minnesota State Mankato.
Staying Hot
The Moose have been on a hot streak since late November. The boys in antlers have won their last four games and swept both the Texas Stars and Belleville Senators in consecutive weekends. The Moose have recorded streaks of three wins in a row three separate times this season and the current four represents a season high to date. Over their last four games, Manitoba has outscored their opponents by a margin of 14-5 with the latest win coming by way of a 2-0 shutout on Sunday.
Wednesday Warriors
The Moose are currently 21 games into the 2021-22 AHL season and past the quarter mark of the campaign. At this point of the season the Moose have only played twice on a Wednesday night and have a record of 1-1-0-0 in those contests. The first game was an early-season 5-4 wild loss to the Rocket here in Laval. The second was a record-setting night with a 60-shot overtime win in Milwaukee. Wednesday appears to be the favourite day of the week for Moose forward David Gustafsson. In the two Wednesday games the Moose have played to date, Gustafsson has recorded six points (2G, 4A) including his four-point outing against Laval back on Oct. 20.

Mikey Eyssimont had assists in back-to-back games in Manitoba’s sweep of Belleville. The Littleton, Col. product has five goals on the campaign which ties him for third on the squad. Eyssimont has nine points (5G, 4A) in 13 games this season. His career high is 28 points (12G, 16A) which he set back in 2019-20 with the Ontario Reign.
