By: Manitoba Moose Staff | Published: March 22nd 2023

The Manitoba Moose are back on home ice for the first time since March 5 when they face the Rockford IceHogs tonight. Manitoba posted a 3-2-2-0 record on a seven-game road trip, earning a pair of wins to close out the swing. Manitoba and Rockford previously faced off last Wednesday when the IceHogs came away with a 4-3 overtime victory. Tickets for tonight's 7 p.m. game at Canada Life Centre are available at MooseHockey.com/TICKETS.

It’s Toni-Time

Dominic Toninato posted a goal in the Moose recent shootout win. The former 2012 Toronto Maple Leafs fifth round pick has goals in each of his past four games played, which is the longest streak of his professional career. Toninato’s previous goals career-high came in 2018-19 with Colorado, where the pivot tallied 14 in 57 contests. This season, Toninato has recorded 16 markers and has played 18 less games to date. The centre is four points away from matching his career-high and has notched 25 points (16G, 9A) in 39 games this season. In addition, five of his 16 markers hold up as game-winning tallies, a mark that places him in a tie for first among Moose skaters.

Boland Blast

Tyler Boland recorded a goal on Sunday afternoon. The forward has tallied 17 points (8G, 9A) in 35 games, along with a plus-four rating. The St. John’s, Nfld. product has registered five points (3G, 2A) over his past 10 contests. Since scoring the first two goals of his AHL career on Dec. 30, Boland has 15 points (8G, 7A) in 26 games. The forward sits in a three-way tie for 10th among Moose scorers.

Lead the Charge

Alex Limoges registered an assist in the Moose weekend victory. The assist was the forward’s 30th of the campaign. It’s the first time in his professional career Limoges reached the 30-assist plateau. The helper also made the winger the second Moose skater break the 30-assist barrier on the campaign. Limoges paces Manitoba in scoring this season, totalling 47 points (17G, 30A) in 53 games. The assists and points are both new-career high marks, as are his 112 shots on goal. The Winchester, Vir. product factored into the game’s first goal in two straight outings. Limoges scored the first goal on Saturday, and assisted on Dominic Toninato’s opening on Sunday.

Happy to Assist

Leon Gawanke racked up a pair of assists in Manitoba’s Sunday win. The defenceman is riding a three-game point streak and has put together five assists in that span. The streak is a season-long, with Gawanke notching the mark twice prior this campaign. The Berlin, Germany product leads the club with eight assists through the month of March. The defenceman broke the 20-assist plateau for the third time in four seasons and pulled within two points of his previous career-high of 36 points (10G, 26A) in 65 games. Gawanke, a Winnipeg fifth round pick in 2017, has tallied 34 points (14G, 20A) in 57 games this season and co-leads the Moose with 143 shots.
