The Moose finally saw their point streak come to an end with a 5-3 loss in Rockford on Wednesday. Manitoba posted a season-high nine consecutive games with a point while amassing a 7-0-1-1 record. Now the team shifts its attention to a key matchup against the division-leading Chicago Wolves. The Moose have found success against the top team in the division with a 4-2-0-0 record against the Wolves this season. Tonight's 7 p.m. CT game is the AHLTV Free Game of the Week. Coverage begins at 6:45 p.m. CT on CJOB.com/sports, AHLTV and the Manitoba Moose App.

Pushing the Pace

Mikey Eyssimont is enjoying a productive March. The forward has scored goals in three straight games and has nine points (5G, 4A) through nine games this month. Three of those contests saw Eyssimont record multi-point outings. In Manitoba’s most recent game, Eyssiont scored his 13th goal and 29th point of the season. Both of those numbers now represent a new career high for the forward, who achieved the feat in 44 games. The Littleton, Col. product has 29 points (13G, 16A) and co-leads the team in scoring alongside Cole Maier.

New Heights

Despite the Moose loss on Wednesday, there were some bright spots to be found. One of those came in the form of Nicholas Jones. The forward, who played in his 150th career AHL game on March 20, netted two goals in the loss and now sits with 21 points (8G, 13A) in 45 games. The 21 points are a new career high for Jones, whose previous mark of 19 points (9G, 10A) through 61 games came in 2019-20 with the Hartford Wolf Pack. Jones has 12 points (5G, 7A) in his past 20 games  and is tied for third on the Moose in points since Jan. 30.

First Point in Antlers

The NHL’s trade deadline shook up AHL rosters all over the league. One trade that impacted the Moose saw the organization acquire defenceman Markus Phillips from the Los Angeles Kings. At the time of the trade, Phillips recorded five points (1G, 4A) for the Ontario Reign and sat with a plus-one rating in 38 games. The Markham, Ont. product made his Moose debut on Wednesday against Rockford and finished the contest with an assist for his first point as a member of the Moose. Phillips has tallied 16 points (4G, 12A) for 16 points over 75 AHL games split between Ontario and Manitoba.

Total Team Effort

The Moose are enjoying a strong season, sitting fifth in the overall AHL standings with a 33-18-3-2 mark good for 71 points and a .634 points percentage. That spot in the top-five comes without one player ranked in the league’s top-125 scorers. In fact, the Moose are the only team in the AHL that doesn’t feature a player with 30 points on the season. But what the Moose do have, is a balanced offence featuring eight players with at least 25 points, 10 players with at least 20 points and a whopping 22 players with 10 or more points. A total of 30 different players have scored a goal for the Moose this season.

Who's Trending?

Simon Lundmark recorded an assist in the third  period of the Moose loss to Rockford on Wednesday. The defenceman, who is in his first AHL season, has put up 12 points (3G, 9A) in 43 games. Lundmark is riding a hot streak and has tallied three points (1G, 2A) over his last three contests played. It is currently the longest point streak of the defender’s season.
