By: Manitoba Moose Staff | Published: March 3rd 2022

The Moose host the Rockford IceHogs for the first time this season tonight at Canada Life Centre. The teams only faced off once earlier in the season as Rockford came away with a 4-3 win on home ice back on Nov. 7. Tickets for tonight's affair are available at MooseHockey.com/TICKETS. Coverage of this evening's game gets going at 6:45 p.m. on CJOB.com/sports, AHLTV and the Manitoba Moose App.

Roster Moves

After a lengthy time in flux, the Manitoba Moose roster has begun to stabilize. On March 1. the team reassigned goaltender Philippe Desrosiers to the ECHL’s Trois-Rivières Lions. Later that same day the Winnipeg Jets reassigned defenceman Dylan Samberg and forward C.J. Suess back to the Moose. Samberg had been with the Jets since Jan. 9 and made his NHL debut on Jan. 13 versus the Detroit Red Wings. Suess, who was recalled back on Dec. 25, has suited up in three games for the Jets this season. In a pair of corresponding moves, the Moose reassigned defenceman Dean Stewart to the ECHL’s Wichita Thunder and forward Tyler Boland to the ECHL’s Newfoundland Growlers.

Taking Care of Business

Bobby Lynch put on a performance in the Moose shootout win on Sunday. The forward recorded two points (1G, 1A) as Manitoba came from behind to capture two points over Chicago. Lynch has totaled eight points (4G, 4A) in 22 games with the Moose this season. Those numbers match his career high, which was set last season with the club in 27 games. Lynch has three points (2G, 1A) over the course of his last three games and has recorded two multi-point games this season. Both of those contests were played against the Chicago Wolves with the Moose winning both.

Shootout Savant

When the Moose need a goal in the shootout, they look no further than David Gustafsson. The Swedish forward has participated in four shootout attempts over his career with the Moose and has scored a goal in every attempt. His first was on May 8/21 in a 5-4 win against the Toronto Marlies where he netted the winner. His second goal came on May 11/21 in a 4-3 loss versus the Belleville Senators. This season Gustafsson took an attempt on Oct. 24/21 against Grand Rapids where he scored the winner and on Feb. 27/21 versus Chicago where he scored his most recent shootout goal.

Double Digits Club

The Moose have found success through balanced scoring this season. There have been 38 skaters who have taken the ice for the Moose this year and 18 of those players have recored 10 or more points on the campaign. That mark ties the Moose for the fourth-most players in double-digits. Evan Polei, who scored in the win over Chicago, is the latest member of the club to hit the 10-point barrier. Meanwhile, the Moose also have six players on the roster with 20 points on the campaign, with three more within three points of hitting the mark.

Who's Trending?

Forward Evan Polei tied the contest with his fifth of the season in Sunday’s shootout win. It was the first goal since Jan. 22 for Polei, who is now up to 10 points (5G, 5A) through 42 games with the Moose this season. Polei’s best statistical season came in 2018-19 with Bakersfield when he recorded 20 points (9G, 11A) in 53 games with the Condors.
