By: Manitoba Moose Staff | Published: October 30th 2021

Back on March 8, 2020, the Moose and Wild clashed in what would be Manitoba's final game of the 2019-20 campaign. A few days later COVID-19 brought the world to a halt and the the season was cancelled. So it brings the circle to a close today as the two teams meet for the first time since that late-season tilt. Both clubs are off to solid starts this season with three wins on either side of the matchup today.

Fans attending today's game are encouraged to bring new/gently used adult winter clothing as a donation for Siloam Mission as part of the Share the Warmth Winter Clothing Drive presented by Red River Co-op. Tickets for today's game are available at MooseHockey.com/TICKETS. Coverage of the contest begins at 1:45 p.m. on CJOB.com/sports, MooseHockey.com/LISTENLIVE and AHLTV.com.

WIN-ipeg
The friendly confines of both the Bell MTS Iceplex and the Canada Life Centre have treated the Moose very well in 2021. Dating back to last season, the Moose have points in 10 straight games played in Winnipeg (9-0-0-1). The run includes victories over Belleville and Stockton in 2020-21 and a pair of wins against Grand Rapids last weekend. Manitoba completed its home schedule at its practice facility, Bell MTS Iceplex last campaign with a 7-0-0-1 run. Going back to the team’s opening set last season, the Moose have won four consecutive games at Canada Life Centre.

Getting Off on the Right Skate
Arvid Holm made his first career AHL start this past Sunday against Grand Rapids. The Swedish netminder, who was drafted by Winnipeg 167th overall in 2017, spent the previous two seasons in the SHL with Farjestad BK. Holm stopped 21 of 23 shots through 65 minutes and denied all three Griffins shooters which opened the door for David Gustafsson to score the winner. Holm not only recorded his first AHL win, he was also credited with an assist on Mikey Eyssimont’s fourth goal of the season. It was Holm’s first professional point to cap off the victory in front of the Moose faithful.

Sophomore Spark
Cole Perfetti scored his first goal of the season during the win on Sunday afternoon. The former 10th overall pick played two games this season for the Winnipeg Jets before being sent to the Moose. The forward recorded six shots on goal in his first outing before lighting the lamp in his second contest. Perfetti already has a year of Moose experience under his belt and suited up for the squad in 2020-21 where he had 26 points (9G, 17A) in 32 games. That mark was good for second in team scoring this past season.

Coming Up Clutch
Moose forward David Gustafsson is a key contributor to the success of the team this season. Through five games the Swede has four points (1G, 3A). Gustafsson came up clutch for the squad this past Sunday when he fired home the shootout winner against Grand Rapids netminder Victor Brattstrom. Gustafsson is reliable in the shootout, cashing in on all three of his career opportunities. He has two career shootout winners to go with three game-winning goals.

Heading On Up
The Moose announced Friday the team recalled forward Todd Burgess and defenceman Tristan Pomerleau from the ECHL’s Newfoundland Growlers. Burgess posted three goals in three games with the Growlers prior to being recalled by the club. Pomerleau recorded one assist in three games with Newfoundland before receiving the call to Manitoba.

Who's Trending?
Forward Mikey Eyssimont checked in with his fourth goal in five games to begin the season. The forward is on a tear off the hop, currently leading the Moose with four goals and 23 shots. The Colorado native is in his first season with the Moose after spending the past campaign playing for the Ontario Reign. Eyssimont has 70 points in 167 AHL games.
